TRAFALGAR HURT TICKET: A GREENWICH CHEST AWARD FOR JOS. RICHARDSON PRIVATE MARINE, H.M.S. ROYAL SOVEREIGN a partly printed certificate with manuscript insertions, to the Directors of the Chest at Greenwich (for the relief of wounded seamen), recording that Jos. Richardson, private marine, aged about 35, on board the Royal Sovereign received a wound to thigh, the wound being sustained in Action on the 1 st October 1805 in an Engagement off Cadiz. The document signed by Captain Edward Rotherham, as well as the Lieutenant, Master, Surgeon, Purser and three others on the ship, one page, folio, on vellum, dated 3 November 1805, also docketed with an official note that on 1 April 1806, Richardson was found recovered and awarded £5 in full satisfaction Provenance: Phillips London: Books, Maps & Manuscripts, 15 June 2001, lot 272; Estate of the Late Clive Richards CBE. fold marks, light soiling.
