A SHIP'S BELL FROM THE FALKLANDS WAR VETERAN M.V. BALDER LONDON, 1979 cast in brass with red-filled lettering inscribed M.V. BALDER LONDON / 1979, complete with clapper -- 14½ x 16in. (37 x 40.5cm.) Although Cammell Laird & Co launched her in 1975 as Hudson Progress, financial difficulties prevented her completion until Lloyd's of London's leasing arm acquired her in 1979, naming her Balder London. Displacing some 19,976 tons, she was requisitioned by the Ministry of Defence in May 1982 to carry aviation fuel to Ascension Island and San Carlos Water during the Falklands War of 1982. In 1984, she was converted to a 'Leaf'-Class replenishment tanker and renamed R.F.A. Orangeleaf. She was broken up in 2016.
