FEODOR ZAKHAROV (RUSSIAN-AMERICAN 1882-1968) Reverie, oil on canvas 91.5 x 66.4 cm (36 x 26 1/8 in) PROVENANCE Acquired directly from the artist Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Babcock, Winston-Salem, North Carolina thence by descent Bonhams, London, 27 November 2019, lot 30 CONDITION The painting is beginning to display craquelure, most noticeably in the upper left quadrant. There is a cardboard canvas patch approximately 1 3/4 x 2 5/8 inches on the verso along the lower right edge. Restoration to the patch appears under UV (recto) , with an additional area of light tough up to the women's neck. Along the left side of the figure, there is varnish bloom and some scuffing. There is a minor dent and small puncture in the upper left quadrant, and a stretcher bar mark is visible along the left side. The painting has not been relined, and the paint surface is stable.
