The two-storey building stands between dense trees and willow-like copses; smoke rises from a chimney. In the foreground is a flat spit of land with grazing animals and a boat. Several small boats are moving on the water; on the right, a large sailing ship with a raised rig protrudes into the picture. The composition clearly emphasizes the shore, water, house and sky. Delicate lines and dense hatching model the clouds, treetops and water surface. The sheet combines topographical accuracy with landscape idealization and stately representation.
