Aug. Vind.” Date: 18th century Description: After an original by Georg Daniel Heumann (1691 Nuremberg – 1759 ibid.). A half-length portrait in half-profile of the German scholar, wearing a wrinkled robe and seated in an antique-style study. His right hand points to a device on the table in front of him. In the background, an antique column base and a mercury barometer can be seen on the wall. Below the artistically framed portrait are the sitter’s coat of arms and a Latin text listing Hollmann’s name, titles, and date of birth. Pale foxing is visible in isolated spots. There are two restored marginal tears along the left edge of the sheet. In the lower right corner, the paper surface is somewhat damaged along the edge.
