Inscribed on the reverse in the artist’s hand: “Karl Wolf München | Blatt 7/1931 | 32 x 47 b | Chiemsee.” Dated lower right: “September 25, 1931.” Date: 1931 Description: The artwork depicts a vast, tranquil landscape with a lake in the foreground surrounded by rolling green hills and a series of bluish mountains in the background. The composition is horizontally oriented, which emphasizes the vastness of the space. Two small, reddish buildings are situated on the shore, their reflections breaking the smooth surface of the water. The color palette is subdued, focusing on various shades of green, complemented by blue and red accents. The atmosphere is calm and serene, with no human figures or animals. Some significant damage along the edges due to bumps and marginal tears; also creased and rubbed in places. The upper left corner of the sheet is missing. The lower right corner of the sheet is rubbed. Remnants of adhesive tape along the edges. Rough traces of detachment from an old mount along the edges on the reverse. Individual marginal tears have been restored. A long horizontal strip of adhesive at the bottom left, painted over in green (restoration or by the artist?). The coloring is well preserved.
