Two-section cabinet in "oyster shell" end-grain veneer. The upper section opens with a cornice drawer and two flaps revealing fourteen drawers, some concealed behind a door; the lower section features three drawers. It rests on slightly curved legs. England - William and Mary period, circa 1700 Height: 165 cm - Length: 117 cm - Depth: 49 cm Note: English “oyster shell” furniture from the William and Mary period is characterized by a veneer of thin wood strips cut into small oval sections, reminiscent of oyster shells. This decorative technique, particularly popular on cabinets and chests, creates shimmering patterns with contrasting hues. Refined and exquisite, these pieces exemplify the late 17th-century English taste for exotic veneers and geometric designs. Provenance: Private collection in Cannes
