[FIEVÉE, Joseph]. La Dot de Suzette, or Histoire de Mme de Senneterre, racontée par elle-même. Rare counterfeit of the original date of this famous political novel, published anonymously by Joseph Fievée at the very end of the 18th century. Paris, Maradan, An sixième (1798). In-16, brown half calf, long-grained green morocco spine decorated with compartmented irons and title in gilt lettering, guilloche headpieces and sides. Contemporary binding. XII and 222 pp. with one engraved hors-texte figure. Corners very slightly bent, very rare foxing. Rare counterfeit of the original date of this very popular novel by Joseph Fiévée (1767-1839), narrating the thwarted love affairs of a young commoner during the Revolution. It features an intaglio engraved figure opposite the faux-tittre. Suzette is on the right, not on the left as in the true first edition [Barbier, I, 1114]. A very fine copy, singularly bound.
