First edition, illustrated with sketches and travel watercolors by Charles Fouqueray, a marine painter (45 watercolors reproduced in color, including 20 as inserts). Introduction by A. Thomasi. The watercolors depict people, boats, and landscapes of the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Gulf of Oman, and the Persian Gulf. Limited edition of 450 numbered copies. One of 430 printed on Marais vellum (No. 413). A precious copy from the author Claude Farrère, signed by him on the half-title page.
