A collection comprising the posthumous works of Molière, whose plays were first printed separately and then included in the collected edition published by Daniel Elzévir, first in 1675. A 1684 edition published by Henri Wetstein, Daniel Elzévir’s successor, under the pseudonym Jacques le Jeune. From 1681 to 1683, Wetstein undertook to reprint separately those plays of which no copies remained in stock, with the notation “According to the copy printed in Paris,” and in 1684 he continued his reprints by adding to the title the notation “In Amsterdam: at Jacques le Jeune’s.” This volume (Volume 6 of the works) consists of the following plays: “Les Amans magnifiques”; “La Comtesse d’Escarbagnas”; “L’Impromptu de Versailles”; “Dom Garcie de Navarre ou Le prince jaloux”; “Melicerte pastorale.” It is illustrated with five charming, anonymous copperplate engravings (one at the beginning of each play). Each play has its own title page and pagination, all dated 1684.
