68. 18th-century French painter Portrait of Maria Leszczyńska, Queen of France, wife of Louis XV oil on canvas, approximately 80.5 x 64 cm. On the reverse, a label bearing the title and an attribution to Nattier, together with a collection label and further labels numbered 125 and 235. This lot is not on view. Numerous paintings of a similar type are known, variously associated with the circles of Jean-Baptiste van Loo and Alexis-Simon Belle. Among them is the painting acquired by the Musée du Château de Lunéville, which is comparable in the arrangement of the figure, with a red robe, a mantle decorated with fleurs-de-lis and a crown. It was published by Maison de Lorraine as a work derived from versions by Alexis-Simon Belle.
