455 - ALBUM WITH 35 WATERCOLOR SHEETS of Iranian origin. The large 8°-sized sheets are salvaged pages from an ancient manuscript that were repainted in watercolor in the early 1900s, depicting scenes of hunting, polo, and court life. Although the sheets are unbound and some have small tears along the edges, the quality of the painting is refined and of considerable importance for understanding what life was like at the court of Tehran between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
