TWO POSTERS: 1) FLARER GALLERIA DEL NAVIGLIO – MILAN, MAY 1970. Dimensions: 44 x 61 cm. Poster for Flarer’s exhibition, corresponding to entry number 550 in the Galleria del Naviglio’s official exhibition registry (source: Galleria del Naviglio archives). Franco Flarer (Pavia, 1899 – Padua, 1986) was a fascinating and unique figure on the Italian art scene, having led a veritable dual professional life at the highest levels; in fact, he was a distinguished dermatologist and internationally renowned scientist, and at the same time, a celebrated abstract painter and poet. His body of work falls within the realm of geometric and lyrical abstraction. Dimensions: 40 x 70 cm. “We see Albisola as an antidote to neurosis, as a vital force” is a clear tribute to the avant-garde cultural and artistic spirit that permeated Albisola—known as the “Little Athens” of the postwar era—and frequented by Lucio Fontana, Asger Jorn, Milani herself, and many other artists and cultural figures of the time (source: Savona Museum).
