TWO POSTERS: 1) NAVIGLIOVENEZIA ART GALLERY, VENICE, SAN MARCO 1652, JUNE–OCTOBER 1972. Dimensions: 44 x 60 cm. The dates indicated—June/October 1972—coincide exactly with the 36th Venice International Art Exhibition (June 11–October 1, 1972). It was customary for major Venetian galleries to organize major summer exhibitions or group shows to attract the Biennale’s international audience. The image alludes to the connection between Music and Sign: Capogrossi regarded his repeated geometric structures as a true musical composition, in which the abstract signs served as “notes” on the staff of the canvas. 2) PHOTOGRAPHS BY GIANCARLO ZUIN FROM JUNE 15–11 TO JUNE 6–12, 1980. IMAGES 70 MASTROGIACOMO PADUA. Dimensions: 48 x 69 cm. This poster, used as an invitation (see the address and stamps on the back), is an important document of avant-garde and experimental photography in the Veneto region during the 1980s. The Mastrogiacomo – Images 70 gallery and publishing house in Padua was a key hub for the dissemination of photographic culture during that decade, publishing historic catalogs and hosting the leading artists of the time. The poster is printed on both sides.
