Guido Pierri PSYCHEDELIC VENUS, ed. Neni Bassani, Carrara 1970. The image is one of his well-known pen-and-ink drawings with a strongly hallucinatory style, typical of the underground and psychedelic movements spanning the late 1960s and early 1970s. The poster measures 50 x 69 cm. The artist Pierri was at the center of the so-called “Via Veneto mystery” or the murder of Christa Wanninger, a crime committed on May 2, 1963, in Rome, near Via Veneto, which became one of the criminal cases that most captured the interest of the Italian public during the *Dolce Vita* era. The judges found him materially guilty of the murder but declared him not punishable due to total lack of mental capacity at the time of the crime (a ruling made final by the Court of Cassation in 1988). The artist partly capitalized on the sinister fame surrounding him to exhibit and sell his hallucinatory prints. (Source: https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mistero_di_via_Veneto). Extremely rare.
