CLEMENTE GALLERIA DEL NAVIGLIO – MILAN – February 1970. This is the official poster printed for Jack Clemente’s solo exhibition held at the Galleria del Naviglio (Via Manzoni 45, Milan) in February 1970. The name “CLEMENTE” printed on the poster refers to Jack Clemente (1926–1974), an artist from Novara associated with Spatialism and known for his innovative explorations of materials. The image in the center shows one of his characteristic multi-material sculptures or reliefs. Jack Clemente became famous precisely for his use of unusual materials such as braided ropes, skeins of natural fibers, hemp, and wooden or metal dowels arranged on raw canvas, creating three-dimensional works with a strong tactile and evocative impact. It bears a dedication from the artist to Renata Zunino (granddaughter of Ada Zunino and Milena Milani): “To Renata, in black ink. Clemente”—herself an artist and gallery owner. The clearly visible mark traced immediately below the signature “Clemente” is the artist’s autograph initials, formed by his intertwined initials J and C.
