333 - TWO POSTERS: 1) MILENA MILANI, “IN PRAISE OF MADNESS: WRITTEN AND PAINTED,” CHRISTIAN STEIN GALLERY, 1972. Milena Milani, who had previously signed all of Lucio Fontana’s Spatialist manifestos, fused her dual identities as a writer and visual artist in this body of work. The exhibition drew direct inspiration from the 1511 text of the same name by Erasmus of Rotterdam, interpreted through her famous “written paintings” and her textual creations applied to physical surfaces. The exhibition was accompanied by a critical essay by the renowned poet and engineer Leonardo Sinisgalli. The Christian Stein Gallery (founded by Margherita Stein) was one of the nerve centers of the Italian artistic avant-garde of the time, closely linked to the experiments of Arte Povera and Spatialism (source: https://studiogariboldi.com/en/other-artists/milena-milani-2/). 2) ITALY–USSR ASSOCIATION OF SAVONA ON THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OCTOBER REVOLUTION. I FELL IN LOVE IN MOSCOW: AN UNPUBLISHED POEM BY MILENA MILANI, an original 1977 advertising poster announcing the theatrical presentation of the work. The base of the poster features a high-contrast graphic illustration with a black silhouette on a red background. Dimensions: 49 x 70 cm.
