ALECHINSKY GALLERIA ROTTA, VIA MANZONI 44, MILAN. Dimensions: 60 x 76 cm. Original poster for the exhibition of the Belgian painter Pierre Alechinsky held in Milan in 1970, for which the catalog and curation were entrusted to Franco Russoli, one of the most important directors of the Pinacoteca di Brera. Russoli was a great admirer of the European avant-garde and authored the critical essay simply titled “Alechinsky.” The exhibition focused primarily on the Belgian artist’s extraordinary body of graphic work, including drawings, engravings, and color lithographs. Alechinsky, who had been one of the founders of the famous CoBrA movement (Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam), brought his distinctive artistic style to Milan.
