1966 MG B GT. Serial No.: GHD3/80657... In 1924, William Morris began modifying production models. A few months later, his company took the name Morris Garage. In the 1950s, the brand diversified into sedans but retained its specialty in small roadsters, starting with the MGA and later the MG B, which debuted in 1962. It retained the small 1,798 cm³ 3-bearing 4-cylinder engine, reputed to be indestructible. However, this engine was upgraded to a 5-bearing design in 1965. That same year, a coupe version called the MG B GT was introduced; its very elegant design was the work of Italian designer Pininfarina... This vehicle was sold new in Canada in 1966. This is an example from the first six months of production. It was imported from Canada in 2016 and registered in France on June 8, 2016. It has a collector’s registration certificate, with a tax power rating of 10 CV. The most recent technical inspection was conducted on July 4, 2024, and the car has traveled 733 km since then, as confirmed by the odometer reading. The vehicle is in excellent condition. It has clearly undergone a complete restoration within the past 10 years. It should be noted that we have no historical records regarding the vehicle’s maintenance history, with the exception of the Histovec report… The floor and underbody are in good condition, as are the running gear components. It should be noted that the entire vehicle has undergone anti-corrosion treatment with a phosphating agent, which limits the scope of the inspection. We note that while virtually all body panels are made of metal, the hood has been replaced with one made of composite materials (plastic). The interior features two seats and a bench seat upholstered in black faux leather in good condition. The carpets and interior trim are in good condition. We have reservations regarding the compliance of the electrical system, which will require a thorough inspection. The dashboard is complete and features all of its original instruments... Since no test drive was conducted, we cannot comment on the functionality of the electrical and mechanical components while the vehicle is in motion. We note that the tires are old and partially cracked. They must be replaced before the vehicle is put back on the road. The spoke rims are in good condition... On the exterior, the various body panels are in good condition, as are the chrome trim, the grille, and the radiator. An inspection of the undercarriage confirms that it is in satisfactory condition... We note that during the restoration, the windshield was reinstalled with the original weatherstrip, which is in poor condition, as are the chrome trim strips intended to embellish it. We also note a few minor finish flaws... The vehicle’s engine has a lubricant leak. We confirm that it is not seized. The transmission also has a fluid leak that is significant enough to have reached the floor reinforcements. The gears shift properly when the vehicle is stationary. During the inspection, the vehicle could not be started due to the lack of a charged battery to turn the ignition on. We are therefore unable to comment on the condition of the battery or the engine’s operation. In the absence of reliable information regarding the vehicle’s condition, maintenance history, and date it was taken out of service, it will be essential to have the vehicle transported on a tow truck and to have all safety-related components inspected and repaired by a professional, if necessary, before putting it back on the road. The vehicle comes with its classic car registration certificate. It is sold “as is,” without a technical inspection and without any warranty. We invite bidders to visit the exhibition to form their own opinion of the vehicle.
