Novohispanic School. Mexico. 18th century. "The Holy Family with the Two Trinities" Oil on canvas. 72 x 134 cm. The composition is arranged on two levels: heaven and earth. If we divide the painting with a horizontal line, we see these two worlds—these two Trinities. The composition also takes the shape of a cross: the Divine Trinity on the vertical axis—God the Father, God the Holy Spirit, and God the Son—and below, the Human Trinity standing on earth—Mary, the Holy Mother of God, and Saint Joseph, both parents of Jesus, who holds their hands, uniting them with Heaven, toward which he gazes.
