AN ANTIQUE IMPERIAL RUSSIAN DIAMOND AND ENAMEL TSAR ALEXANDER I PRESENTATION PENDANT, CIRCA 1810 and later, in yellow gold and silver, the oval pendant decorated with blue guilloche enamel, with an applied A motif surmounted by a crown set with rose cut diamonds, within a foliate style frame set with old and rose cut diamonds, no assay marks, 4.1cm, 9.3g. Catalogue Note: By family repute, this jewel was presented to Lieutenant-General Sir Robert Arbuthnot (1773-1853) by Tsar Alexander I, Emperor of Russia (1777-1825). Sir Robert was a British military commander during the Napoleonic Wars and later 16th General Officer Commanding, Ceylon. The jewel was most likely originally part of a presentation box and later converted to a pendant. Thence by decent to the present owner.
