NICOLAS BRO AND BODIL JORGENSEN Scene from Dagur Kari’s film “Dark Horse,” 2005. Photograph, vintage RC print, typewritten numbers on the back. 21 x 29.7 cm, including white borders. A manipulated border. Note: Nicolas Bro plays Morfar, the whimsical friend of Daniel, a young, outsider graffiti artist who rejects the constraints of adult life. Employed at a sleep research lab, Morfar dreams above all of becoming a professional soccer referee. Bodil Jørgensen plays Gunvor, the mother of Franc, the young woman with whom Daniel falls in love. Under its Danish title *Voksne mennesker*—literally “Adults”—this offbeat comedy follows characters who struggle precisely to conform to the expectations of adulthood. Dagur Kári blends absurd humor, melancholy, and a deliberately minimalist aesthetic. The film was presented in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.
