Over the course of a day, he encounters various clients and characters from Manhattan’s underground scene. Shot on a shoestring budget and largely based on the actors’ improvisation, *Flesh* adopts a deliberately freeform style, akin to cinéma vérité. Produced under the auspices of Andy Warhol, the film helped establish Dallesandro as a figure of the counterculture and marked the beginning of Paul Morrissey’s informal trilogy, which continued with *Trash* and *Heat*.
