ELEANOR PARKER AND BILL TRAVERS During the filming of Ronald Neame’s movie “The Seventh Sin” (La Passe dangereuse), 1957. Photograph, vintage silver print, annotated on the back. 25.6 x 20.3 cm, including white borders. Note: Adapted from William Somerset Maugham’s novel *The Painted Veil*, *La Passe dangereuse* depicts a couple torn apart by infidelity and resentment. Eleanor Parker plays Carol Carwin, an American living in Hong Kong, while Bill Travers plays her husband Walter, a British doctor who discovers her affair with a diplomat. Walter then forces Carol to accompany him to a Chinese village struck by a cholera epidemic. This ordeal gradually transforms their relationship and forces both characters to confront guilt, devotion, and forgiveness. Although Ronald Neame remains the sole credited director, Vincente Minnelli completed the filming after Neame left midway through production.
