TERENCE FISHER AND CHRISTOPHE LEE A successful duo—director and actor in Hammer Horror films—during the filming of "The Devils Ride Out" (Les Vierges de Satan), 1968. Photo, vintage silver gelatin print, annotated on the back. 20.2 x 25.8 cm. Corner tips have been touched up. Note: A major duo in British fantasy cinema, director Terence Fisher and actor Christopher Lee contributed significantly to the golden age of Hammer Films. Their collaboration revitalized the great figures of Gothic cinema, notably with *Frankenstein Escapes* in 1957, *Dracula’s Nightmare* in 1958, and *The Curse of the Pharaohs* in 1959. In *The Devil Rides Out* (1968), an adaptation of the novel by Dennis Wheatley, Christopher Lee, for once, stepped away from his usual roles as monsters or villains to play the Duke of Richleau, an aristocrat and expert in the occult who confronts a satanic cult. The film is now considered one of Hammer’s most memorable works.
