69 - PSYCHO. VERA MILES AND JOHN GAVIN

PSYCHO. VERA MILES AND JOHN GAVIN During the filming of Alfred Hitchcock's movie "Psycho," 1960. Photo, vintage silver print, stamped (numbers) on a white border and captioned + stamped on the back. 25.5 x 20.6 cm. Some signs of handling visible only when held up to the light. Note: In *Psycho*, directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960, Vera Miles and John Gavin play Lila Crane and Sam Loomis, respectively. After the disappearance of Marion Crane, played by Janet Leigh, her sister and her lover set out together on a search that leads them to the mysterious Bates Motel, run by Norman Bates, played by Anthony Perkins. Their characters thus take over the investigation in the second half of the story. Adapted from the novel by Robert Bloch, *Psycho* revolutionized the conventions of Hollywood suspense through its narrative structure, editing, and Bernard Herrmann’s score. The film is now considered a seminal work of modern horror cinema and one of Hitchcock’s greatest achievements.
