130 - Haute Couture. Alix Marcelle TIZEAU - Marcelle ALIX. Alix Marcelle Tizeau (sometimes referred to simply as Marcelle Tizeau) was a French haute couture house that was particularly active during World War II and the Occupation (the 1940s). The house was founded through a partnership between the famous couturier Alix (later better known as Madame Grès / Germaine Krebs) and Marcelle Tizeau. The brand published prestigious catalogs illustrated by the artist Yves Gueden and photographed by the renowned photographer Laure Albin Guillot. The fashion house distinguished itself by participating in the famous Théâtre de la Mode, a traveling exhibition of miniature mannequins created shortly after the Liberation to revive the prestige of French haute couture around the world. A precious album containing approximately 52 silver gelatin prints, including a very beautiful silver gelatin print of the Théâtre de la Mode dated 1946 by Laure Albin Guillot (renowned photographer), from the haute couture house that belonged to Marcelle Tizeau. Active during the Occupation and known for her haute couture designs, which were immortalized by leading photographers and illustrators of the era. A beautiful silver gelatin portrait of Mrs. Tizeau. Several photographs of the small “Théâtre de la Mode” at the Pavillon Marsan in 1946, featuring images of some of the 165 dolls created by Jean Saint-Martin and Eliane Bonabel in 1945, dressed by the greatest fashion houses of the era (Balenciaga, Schiaparelli, Lanvin, Balmain...) and staged by Christian Bérard with sets by Jean Cocteau. Organized in Paris in 1945 by the Parisian Chamber of Fashion to revive the fashion industry after World War II. The exhibition traveled around the world, notably to London and New York. It includes two drawings by Mrs. Tizeau. Provenance: former Marcelle Tizeau collection.
