RUG in the “Savonnerie” style Silky wool velour on a cotton backing Ivory field with a sky-blue latticework pattern imitating the designs of the hanging garden parterres from theLouis XV era, creating a sense of depth; adorned with a central, multi-lobed medallion in the shape of a cartouche, highlighted by sinuous scrollwork with gilded foliage surrounding a bouquet of roses and stylized polychrome foliage. Four spandrels decorated with finely drawn ram’s horns. Border featuring sky-blue panels and compartments adorned with multicolored floral bouquets. The counter-border features bronze- and gold-toned axial rocaille shells—hallmarks of the Louis XV repertoire—and friezes of green laurel leaves. Circa 1960 Louis XV style 354 x 240 cm
