Otto Wolter, Schwäbisch Gmünd, lidded box with saucer, sterling silver, crystal glass, chalice mark Sterling silver (925) and crystal glass, round lidded box with round saucer, Otto Wolter, Schwäbisch Gmünd, lid and saucer of sterling silver, bowl of crystal glass, hallmarked on the underside with crescent and crown, "925", the maker's chalice mark and "STERLING", round bowl, colourless and thick-walled with plain rim, domed lid with egg-shaped finial on a leaf wreath, lid and saucer with encircling decorative border of wavy silver wire, saucer with round well. Good condition. Saucer D. 18.5 cm, H. 11 cm, weight 308 g without glass insert. The chalice mark is the trademark of the silverware factory Otto Wolter in Schwäbisch Gmünd, which was founded in 1875 and existed until the 1990s. Schwäbisch Gmünd is a centre of the gold and silversmiths' craft, whose tradition in the town dates back to the 14th century. Such a glass box with silver mounts and saucer is used on the table as a sugar bowl or bonbon box.
