Martin Wirth, Kaprun, Pinzgau, village view with steeple and mountain forest, Salzburg Land, 1991 (1939 – 2017 Ilsenburg), pencil on card, signed and dated (19)91 lower right, inscribed "Kaprun" lower left, view of the village with an elevated church with slender pointed spire, tower clock and tower cross, the parish church of St Margaret, in front houses with shallow gabled roofs, wooden balconies and floral decoration, spruces and a wooded mountainside, parked cars cropped in the foreground, condition commensurate with age, stained in places, image 36x45 cm (HxW), overall dimensions 36x48 cm (HxW) Kaprun lies at some 786 metres in the Pinzgau in the Salzburg Land, at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn in the Hohe Tauern. The parish church of St Margaret stands on a rocky spur above the Kapruner Ache; it is first documented in 1409, its nave was built from 1898 in neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic forms, and in the same year the tower, already remodelled in 1722, received its pointed spire. Together with the surrounding old cemetery the church is a listed monument. Above the village rises Kaprun Castle from the 12th century; further destinations are the high-alpine reservoirs Wasserfallboden and Mooserboden. Martin Wirth exhibited his works in Goslar, Wernigerode and at the Ministry of the Environment in Magdeburg, among other places.
