Künste, Teichstr. 36, Hildesheim", two kissing heads in close-up, on the left a person with reddish-brown hair combed smoothly back in profile to the right, on the right a person with long dark brown hair in profile to the left, the hand of the left person lying in the hair of the right, blue ground, good age-appropriate condition, partial pressure marks, edges with paint abrasion, image 41x47 cm (HxW) The kiss as a close-up of two heads has been one of the great themes of modern figure painting since Edvard Munch's "The Kiss" (best-known version 1897, part of the Frieze of Life) and Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss" (1907/08, principal work of the Vienna Secession). The present picture takes up the kissing scene in 1979 in the figurative painting of the post-war decades and presents the lovers as a double portrait in close-up.
