Genre painter, still life with flower vase and samovar, asters before window with curtain, interior Watercolour on paper, signed and dated lower right (not deciphered), in the foreground a vase with asters before a window with translucent curtain, beside it a white vase and a red glass bowl on foot, on the right a samovar, framed by further plants in vases, good condition commensurate with age, image 47.5x60.5 cm (HxW), behind glass, framed, frame slightly chipped, frame width 3.5 cm The samovar is an originally Russian tea urn for heating water, the name means roughly "self-boiler". The first written mentions date from the 1730s, and the town of Tula became a centre of Russian samovar production. On top of the samovar stands a small pot with strong tea concentrate, which is diluted with the hot water. The still life, after the Dutch "stilleven", shows an arrangement of inanimate objects such as flowers, fruit or tableware.
