Standing Asian woman as a nude before palm fronds, large-format female nude, three-quarter figure Oil on canvas, signed in red lower right (not deciphered), standing young Asian woman as a three-quarter figure to above the knees, facing the viewer frontally, with shoulder-length dark brown hair and red painted lips, her right arm (left in the picture) resting sideways on a grey parapet, the left arm hanging down, behind a brown wall and green palm fronds against a dark ground with a yellow area, good condition, image 93x62 cm (HxW), overall dimensions 100x68 cm (HxW). Since Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus" of 1485, the female nude has been an independent subject of European painting. In the 20th century the range of the nude picture widened from Expressionism, for instance Egon Schiele's nudes circa 1910, to Pop Art, in which Tom Wesselmann collaged his series "Great American Nude" from magazine cuttings from 1961 onwards.
