The Navitimer, introduced in 1952, is Breitling's most famous pilot's chronograph: its slide rule bezel allows speeds, climb and descent rates and consumption figures to be calculated, which is why it formed part of many pilots' standard equipment for decades and served as the official watch of the AOPA pilots' association. The Old Navitimer references of the early 1990s in steel and gold with the automatic calibre 13 mark the revival of the brand under Ernest Schneider.
