Rudolf Kämmer Volkstedt figural clock, bisque, woman and angel, Art Nouveau style, late 20th century Bisque porcelain and metal, table clock, also figural clock, by the porcelain manufactory Rudolf Kämmer, Volkstedt, marked on the base with blue crown mark above "K", curved case in Art Nouveau style of matt bisque porcelain with relief leaf and blossom decoration, on the front a standing woman in a flowing robe, towards whom a small angel leans from above, the round brass-coloured framed clock case in the upper part, cream-coloured dial with black Arabic numerals, guilloché gold-coloured centre and black hands, mechanical movement with winding, good condition commensurate with age, movement runs, 22x10x8 cm (HxWxD). 360-degree photo available on our website. The porcelain painter Rudolf Kämmer founded a manufactory in Rudolstadt-Schwarza in 1946 together with the modeller Paul Kramer, which continued to use models of the porcelain manufactory Anton Müller, founded in 1912. After Kramer's departure in 1953 the business was renamed Porzellanmanufaktur Rudolf Kämmer and moved in 1954 to Rudolstadt-Volkstedt, the long-established centre of Thuringian porcelain production. After the founder's death in 1968 his son Erhard Kämmer ran the company, which was nationalised a few years later and taken back by the family in 1990. The crown mark with the letter K has been used since 1953. The curved form and the organic leaf and blossom decoration of the figural clock take up the formal language of Art Nouveau circa 1900.
