After his solo flight across the Atlantic in 1927, Charles Lindbergh developed the Hour Angle watch together with Longines (1931): by means of the rotating central disc and the degree scale, combined with a radio time signal, the hour angle and thus the longitude of one's position can be determined – an important aid to celestial navigation. Longines, official timekeeper of the Lindbergh flight, reissued the model in 1987 for the 60th anniversary in the present reference 989.5215.
