Gustav Becker founded a clock factory in Freiburg in Silesia in 1847 whose regulators were produced in large numbers in the 19th century; in 1899 the company merged into the Vereinigte Freiburger Uhrenfabriken. The beat scale mounted in the case probably refers to the Magdeburg clock retailer who sold the clock.
