Pelikan New Classic writing set in Cirago blue, fountain pen with gold nib and ballpoint, 1992-95 Lacquered metal with blue marbled decoration (Cirago blue) and gold-plated fittings, 1992–1995. Two-piece writing set from the Pelikan New Classic series: 1) cartridge fountain pen model P381 with 14C-585 gold nib stamped with the Pelikan emblem, nib width M, black ribbed grip section with gold-plated ring, cartridge inserted, L. 13.8 cm. 2) ballpoint pen, probably model K381, refill width 0.5 mm, L. 14 cm. Both with flat cap tops bearing the gold-plated Pelikan emblem and slender, tapered clips. Very good used condition. Pelikan introduced the New Classic series in 1992 as a metal writing instrument range of classic, slender design. As sales fell short of expectations, production ceased as early as 1995 – the short production run makes the series a sought-after collecting field today. Characteristic are the lacquered metal body, the black grip section with gold ring and the Pelikan emblem on the flat cap top. The Pelikan brand goes back to the ink and colour factory founded in Hanover in 1838.
