Theodor Fahrner, Pforzheim, filigree link bracelet, 925 silver, lightly gilt, 1930s 925 silver. Link bracelet, Theodor Fahrner, Pforzheim, 1930s, stamped on the reverse “FAHRNER”, “TF” in a circle and “925”; eight links, each of two overlapping ovals, both applied with fine wire spirals between twisted-wire borders, the spiral decoration lightly gilt, the undersides lightly gilt; the links joined by two plain, polished loop links each; hook clasp. Very good condition commensurate with age. L. 19 cm. The firm of Theodor Fahrner was founded in Pforzheim in 1855; Theodor Fahrner (1859 to 1919) took it over after the death of his father in 1883 and around 1900 made it one of the best-known Pforzheim jewellery manufacturers with Art Nouveau jewellery after designs by Max J. Gradl, who received a silver medal at the Paris World Exhibition of 1900, and later by Patriz Huber. The mark “TF” in a circle was registered in 1901. After Fahrner's death in 1919, Gustav Braendle continued the firm as Theodor Fahrner Nachf. and had Fahrner jewellery produced in series in silver until its dissolution in 1979, sold through jewellers and department stores throughout Europe. In the 1930s the series of filigree jewellery was created, in which the links are applied with fine twisted wires and wire spirals; this silver bracelet belongs to this group. The fundamental literature on the firm is the volume by Leonhardt and Zühlsdorff, “Theodor Fahrner. Schmuck zwischen Avantgarde und Tradition”, Stuttgart 2005.
