Lot of 14 fittings in Louis XVI style, brass, handles and escutcheons with rams' heads Brass, gold-coloured, lot of 14 furniture fittings, age-appropriate good condition 1) six handle fittings with identical backplate of three vases linked by festoons, below the central vase a ram's head with tassels; 2) three escutcheons with a similar, smaller backplate of the same series and ram's head, keyhole in the central vase; 3) five further fittings: a narrow tapering strip with two cross-shaped openings, a ribbon bow, a fitting in the form of a bundle with wings, two small escutcheons with rosette and foliage, handles 14x7.5x3.5 cm (HxWxD) Vases with drapery, garlands and festoons are the leading motifs of Louis XVI (1770 to 1792) and Neoclassicism, arranged in strict symmetry; they recur on the backplates of the furniture handles and escutcheons of this lot. Bail handles with movable bail and matching escutcheons of one series, as here, belong to the furnishing of Neoclassical commodes and secretaries.
