Meissen Three Dishes with Bunte Blume 2 and Gold Rim, First Choice, Crossed Swords Mark Porcelain, polychrome painted, gilt, glazed. Three dishes of equal size by the Meissen State Porcelain Manufactory, the wall with three lobes and a shaped, scalloped outline, the rim with a gold line. In the well of each dish a floral bouquet, each with a different principal flower: a red ranunculus, a yellow narcissus with blue blossoms, and a blue anemone with a spray of pink blossom; on the border four scattered flowers each. The undersides with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark without pommel, together with the impressed model number and the red painter's number. Good condition. Each 3.5x12x13.5 cm (HxWxD) At Meissen the numeral following the pattern name is not a model reference but the number of flower groups the painter places on the piece: in Bunte Blume 2 there is one principal flower in the well and scattered flowers on the border. Because every flower is painted freehand, no two pieces are alike; within a set each dish is therefore deliberately given a different principal motif. The red number on the base names the pattern and the painter and makes every piece traceable within the manufactory.
