Royal Copenhagen Tea Service for Five, Blue Flower Pattern, Denmark Porcelain, “Blue Flower” pattern in underglaze blue, glazed. Extensive tea service for five people by the Danish manufactory Royal Copenhagen. The service comprises a teapot, a milk jug, a sugar bowl, two bowls, five three-piece place settings of cup, saucer and cake plate as well as one further cup, two saucers and four cake plates. Every piece is hand-painted with the characteristic blue floral decoration – stylised cinquefoil and chrysanthemum blossoms with foliage –, individual forms with a braided relief rim. The undersides bear the mark with the three wavy lines and the inscription “ROYAL COPENHAGEN DENMARK”. Good condition, one of the cups with a small chip. Royal Copenhagen was founded in Copenhagen in 1775 under the patronage of the dowager queen Juliane Marie. The “Blue Flower” pattern is, after “Musselmalet” (Blue Fluted), the second historic pattern of the house and dates back to 1779; it shows stylised cinquefoil and chrysanthemum blossoms and is still painted entirely by hand in underglaze blue today. The three wavy lines of the mark stand for the three Danish straits Øresund, Great Belt and Little Belt. An extensive, fully usable service for lovers of Danish porcelain.
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
