Three Rosenthal Studio Line Vases, Matt White Relief Porcelain, Wirkkala and Freyer White bisque porcelain with a matt, velvety surface, glazed inside. Three vases of the Rosenthal Studio Line, that design series founded in 1961 in which Rosenthal brought together the designs of internationally leading designers. The oval vase bears the designer's signature 'Tapio Wirkkala' and the model number 3091-20 on the base, the angular vase is signed 'Martin Freyer' (model number 2932), and there is also a conical vase with the model number 3084/26. All three models are captivating through their plastic, all-round relief decoration of bark, groove and drop structures, which in the matt white creates an attractive play of light and shadow. The bases with the mark of the Rosenthal studio-line. Good condition, the walls partially soiled, H. 20-26 cm. The Rosenthal Studio Line is regarded as one of the most influential design initiatives of the German post-war period and made aesthetically demanding porcelain accessible to a broad public. The Finn Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985), one of the most important designers of the 20th c., worked for Rosenthal from 1956; his matt white relief vases with their finely structured surfaces derived from natural forms are today among the sought-after classics for collectors. Martin Freyer too created characteristic, sculpturally conceived relief vases for the Studio Line. A stylish ensemble for lovers of modern design porcelain.
