Meissen covered tureen with citrus fruit finial, white porcelain with floral relief, circa 1930 White porcelain, four cancellation lines, glazed, covered tureen by the Porzellanmanufaktur Meissen, circa 1930, on a foot, ornamental handles on both sides, finely relief-moulded floral and leaf decoration all around, cover finial in the form of a sliced citrus fruit, on the base the underglaze blue crossed swords mark with dot, condition commensurate with age, firing flaws, handle with chip, stress crack in the foot ring, 17x33x27.5 cm (HxWxD). 360-degree photo available on our website. During the period under Max Adolf Pfeiffer from 1924 to 1934, the crossed swords mark of the Meissen manufactory bore an additional dot between the swords. Cancellation lines through the mark indicated the grading: one line stood for undecorated white porcelain or second quality, two lines for second quality, three and four lines for third and fourth quality, which was only sold to employees of the manufactory. The manufactory itself had been founded by Augustus the Strong in 1710; since 1865 it has had its seat in the Triebisch valley.
