Two armorial plates, KPM Berlin and manufactory with crowned monogram mark Porcelain, glazed, polychrome and gilt decoration. 1) Large plate, on the rim a small crowned coat of arms: in blue a silver rampant lion, in the chief three gold stars, the shield edged in gold, above it a gold crown of rank; the rim with one blue line and one gold line, on the base an underglaze blue crowned monogram mark. Age-appropriate condition, gold line and blue line partly rubbed. D. 25 cm. 2) Plate by the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin, in the well a full coat of arms: on a silver shield a diagonally placed brown branch with three green oak leaves, on the barred helmet with red and gold wreath a gold crown of leaves and above it as crest a badger on a branch before a tuft of oak leaves, the mantling in red and silver. On the rim a crowned monogram of two interlaced letters, the rim with a broad gilt border, on the base the blue sceptre mark. Age-appropriate condition, coat of arms and gilt border rubbed. D. 18.5 cm. Armorial services were commissioned as individual orders for noble houses and bourgeois families until the early 20th century; the manufactories employed their own heraldic painters for this purpose. The crown of rank follows a fixed system: the number of pearls distinguishes the ranks of nobility. The crown above the monogram of the smaller plate is executed with seven pearls.
