Tettau Ensemble in the Art Nouveau Style, Relief Bowl with Woman's Head, Jug and Vases White porcelain with moulded relief decoration, glazed. Extensive seven-piece ensemble by the Royal Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau in the floral relief style of Art Nouveau, comprising a handled jug, four bowls and two vases. The relief decoration 'Anemone' comprises the handled jug (H. 17 cm), a leaf-shaped bowl (26x21 cm), a footed bowl (H. 15 cm, D. 23 cm) and a round bowl (H. 6 cm, D. 20 cm). Particularly attractive is a rectangular relief bowl (26x18 cm), the entire well of which is dominated by a plastically worked Art Nouveau motif: the head of a young woman with long flowing hair that merges in flowing, wave-like folds into the curved form of the bowl - a characteristic emblem of the art of around 1900. The two vases (H. 24 and 28 cm) bear the relief decoration 'Daphne 1893'. All walls are covered with finely modelled, plastically raised floral, leaf and figural reliefs. The bases each with the Tettau mark, the decoration name and the stamp 'Tettau Antiquariat', which identifies the pieces as later versions in the Art Nouveau style. Good condition, only the smaller vase with a crack in the base. The Royal Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau was founded in 1794 in Upper Franconia and is the oldest surviving private porcelain factory in Bavaria. The relief series 'Anemone' and 'Daphne 1893' as well as the relief bowl with the woman's head are entirely in the spirit of Art Nouveau as it shaped European art around 1900; the feminine-floral vocabulary of forms with flowing hair and flowing lines is among the especially sought-after motifs of this era today. The plastically modelled, white-on-white relief work lends the vessels their unmistakable character. An extensive ensemble for collectors of Art Nouveau and of Franconian relief porcelain.
