Wilesco Vertical Steam Engine with Brick Boiler House and Copper Chimney, 1980s Metal, blue-painted base plate with red-finished corner feet. Vertical model steam engine with highly polished, nickel-plated vertical boiler, water level glass at the side, safety valve, pressure gauge with red surround and steam whistle, above it the chimney in copper. The octagonal boiler house with embossed brickwork, an encircling ribbed walkway with railing and a red-finished access ladder. On the walkway the blue-finished engine unit with vertical cylinder, valve gear and flywheel with red spokes and silver-coloured rim, the cylinder block marked 'Wilesco'. Heating with solid fuel via the pull-out burner slide. On the base plate the stickers 'Wilesco', 'Wasserstand / Water level' and the GS test mark of the TÜV. Played with. 33.5x14x20 cm. Wilesco goes back to the metalware factory Wilhelm Schröder & Co., founded in Lüdenscheid in 1912, from whose company name the brand is also derived. The firm has been making model steam engines since 1950 and is today the largest manufacturer in the world; the vertical models with embossed boiler house have been part of the range for decades and are still built today. Operation with solid fuel makes these machines a classic teaching and demonstration model on which the path from fire via steam to rotary motion can be shown directly.
