Märklin 3497 steam locomotive B VI MURNAU of the K.Bay.Sts.B., gauge H0, orig. packaging Steam locomotive with tender of gauge H0 by Märklin, article number 3497, model of the B VI class of the Royal Bavarian State Railway with the locomotive name 'MURNAU'. Cast body, painted green with a black frame, tall chimney, wheel arrangement 1B, direction-dependent changing headlamp signal. The tender is executed as a peat tender. The box designates the model 'B VI K.Bay.Sts.B.'. In original packaging. The electrics respond (light illuminates, motor hums), however the drive is seized and gummed up due to the long period of standing; servicing and cleaning are required. Played-with condition. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The B VI class was one of the great Bavarian locomotive families: between 1863 and 1871 Maffei in Munich built 107 machines of this type with one carrying axle and two coupled axles. Instead of running numbers they carried place names such as 'MURNAU' or 'MOOSBURG' - a rarity in German locomotive construction. The machines proved extraordinarily long-lived: the last two even passed to the German Reichsbahn in 1923 and were withdrawn the same year after around six decades of service. Märklin brought out the model in 1994 and gave it a peat tender.
