The Märklin company was founded in 1859 by Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm Märklin and is based in Göppingen; Märklin introduced H0 gauge at a scale of 1:87 in 1935. With "Der König-Ludwig-Zug", Märklin reproduces the royal train of King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a model railway; besides the steam locomotive, the four-part train includes a main saloon car and an observation terrace car, among others. The prototype of the locomotive is the Bavarian B VI, a development of the B V, of which 107 engines with tender were built. Of the historic royal train, the two so-called Ludwig cars have survived and are displayed today at the Nuremberg Transport Museum.
