Märklin gauge H0 banana advertising wagon FYFFES Jamaica and small-livestock wagon 386, tinplate Two goods wagons, gauge H0, by Märklin in tinplate construction with a light grey barrel roof. 1) Covered advertising wagon for banana transport in yellow, with the blue signet 'FYFFES' and the lettering 'Jamaica', beside it the lettering of the German Reichsbahn 'D.R.B.' and the load specification 'G 9500 kg'. 2) Small-livestock wagon in red with yellow framework, slotted ventilation openings and a printed poultry motif, running number 386. Played-with condition with paint chips and rubbed areas. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. Märklin introduced size H0 in 1935; the early goods wagons were still made of lithographed tinplate and are cultivated today as a collecting group of their own. The British fruit import company Fyffes brought its bananas to central Europe in specially marked refrigerated wagons - advertising wagons of this kind are among the most colourful pieces of the period. Small-livestock or crate wagons served in the prototype to transport poultry and small livestock; the pierced wall panels provided the necessary ventilation.
